Hardware & AnschlussHardware & Connection

  • A screen with an HDMI input (TV, monitor, projector or similar)
  • A power adapter rated at 5 V and at least 2 A, plus a USB cable (both included in the box)
  • A Wi-Fi network (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz)
  • A device to control it from, e.g. a smartphone or PC

You get everything you need to get started: the Atendu Mini, a power adapter with a USB cable, an HDMI extension cable and an HDMI coupler. You don't need to buy anything extra – all you need is a screen with an HDMI input and Wi-Fi.

Plug the Atendu Mini directly into your screen's HDMI input, or use the HDMI extension cable (included) if the port is hard to reach. With the HDMI coupler that's also included, you can connect the stick to an existing or permanently installed HDMI cable. Then plug in the power adapter. The first time you switch it on, the screen shows the setup Wi-Fi “Atendu-Setup” and a QR code. Connect your phone to that Wi-Fi and scan the QR code – the setup wizard then opens and guides you through the setup.

You need a screen with an HDMI input – it doesn't matter whether it's a TV, monitor, projector or digital signage display, and a smart TV isn't required. Power is supplied via USB-C (5V/2A, the included power adapter is recommended). The internet connection runs exclusively over Wi-Fi – the stick has no LAN port.

That depends on your waiting area. Since the screen usually shows only a few numbers at a time, they're easy to read from a distance even on smaller displays. The tile size of the numbers can be adjusted in the settings, so you can tailor the display to your space and the reading distance.

You decide that yourself via the tile size in the settings: larger tiles show fewer numbers but are readable from further away – smaller tiles show more numbers at once. This lets you tune the display both to your screen size and to how many called numbers should be visible at the same time.

No, only once for the initial setup. As soon as the Atendu Mini is set up and on your Wi-Fi, it works as a small server on your network and can be reached from any browser. This also means it can be integrated into an existing IT infrastructure without having to keep it permanently connected to an HDMI screen. How to open the call display on another device is explained under “Can I also open the call display in a browser on another device?”.

Ja.

Yes. The display, i.e. what normally runs over HDMI, is at the same time a local web page: open the control page in a browser and tap “Display” at the top. This works on a PC, a tablet or an existing digital signage screen with a browser. Handy when there is no large screen available: a tablet on the counter or mounted on the wall then becomes your call display. The steps for an iPad are under “Can I use an iPad as the call display?”.

Tip: On a PC, press the F11 key to switch the display to full-screen mode, which hides the address bar and tabs (works in Chrome, Edge and Firefox on Windows; on a Mac use Ctrl + Cmd + F). Pressing the same key again exits full-screen mode. With Ctrl + mouse wheel (or Ctrl + Plus/Minus, Cmd + Plus/Minus on a Mac) you can zoom the display in or out – this also works in full-screen mode.

Ja.

Yes. Open the control page in Safari on the iPad and tap “Display” at the top – this runs the call display on the iPad. To make it behave like a proper screen, three steps are needed:

- Full screen: Tap the Share icon in Safari and choose “Add to Home Screen”. If you launch the display from the new icon, the address bar and tabs disappear. Only the narrow status bar with the time and battery level remains visible – iPadOS does not allow it to be hidden. - No standby: Under Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock, choose “Never”. If you also want to protect the iPad against accidental swipes, enable Guided Access (Settings → Accessibility); it has its own auto-lock setting. - Gong: Turn off Silent Mode in Control Centre (bell icon), otherwise the gong stays silent. You also need to tap the screen once every time the display starts – Safari only enables sound after a touch. There is no way around this. Good to know: An iPad is 4:3, a TV is 16:9. On the iPad the display is scaled to the height, so fewer numbers fit side by side than on a TV. Depending on the device, you may need to adjust the tile size, logo size or ticker text size slightly in the settings. In addition, on a tablet standing upright it can make sense to stack the tiles – the setting for this is called “Layout” in the “Tiles” card.

That's the Wi-Fi reset button. Briefly press it with a needle or paperclip to reset the Wi-Fi. The stick then restarts and you can connect it to a new network. All your settings and your logo are kept.

No, there is neither a physical nor a software switch to shut the stick down or turn it off. Simply disconnecting the Atendu Mini from the power is enough.

In normal operation, consumption is around 1.2–1.3 watts, measured at the socket including the power adapter. It briefly rises to just under 3 watts when switching on. Even if it stays plugged in around the clock all year, it uses only about 11 kWh – roughly 4 euros in electricity costs per year.

The stick restarts automatically as soon as the power returns. Your settings, your logo and the call list are kept.

Einrichtung & WLANSetup & Wi-Fi

When you switch it on for the first time, the stick automatically opens its own Wi-Fi network called "Atendu-Setup". Connect to it with your phone and follow the on-screen instructions.

Tip: Connect within 10 minutes, otherwise the setup Wi-Fi switches itself off – if that happens, briefly disconnect the stick from the power. Once your phone is connected, take all the time you need.

Yes, that's a basic requirement. Instead of a fixed home network, you can also use a mobile hotspot (e.g. from a smartphone). The stick and the control device simply need to be on the same network. An internet connection is only needed for the remote call feature (Atendu Cloud) – all other functions run entirely within your local network.

We advise against it, for two reasons. First, public guest/customer Wi-Fi networks (hotels, cafés, training rooms) often have quirks that can block Atendu:

  • Login page – many guest Wi-Fi networks require you to tick a box or log in via the browser the first time you connect. The stick shows the display continuously and can't click through this page itself.
  • Client isolation – guest Wi-Fi networks usually separate connected devices from one another. In that case your phone can't reach the stick, and the control page isn't accessible.
  • Time or bandwidth limits – some hotspots disconnect you after a few hours or once a day.

Second, security: anyone on your Wi-Fi can call numbers and change settings – on a network shared with outside guests, that would be everyone. The stick therefore belongs on your internal staff/operations network. Technically it also runs on a password-protected guest Wi-Fi, but we can't recommend it. Depending on your situation, a mobile hotspot from your smartphone can be an alternative.

That is intentional. The Atendu Mini only connects to encrypted Wi-Fi networks (WPA2 or WPA3). If you pick a network without a password in the setup assistant, it tells you so and stops there.

The reason: the Atendu Mini deliberately has no login and no PIN – anyone in your Wi-Fi can call numbers and change settings. That keeps everyday use simple, but it also makes your Wi-Fi password the only key to the device. In an open network, everyone within radio range would hold that key: guests, neighbours, passers-by. Any of them could control your display or reset the stick. On top of that, traffic between the stick and your phone would travel unencrypted in an open network. The European security requirements for connected devices point the same way: access only for authorised people, data transfer encrypted.

The fix is simple: set a Wi-Fi password in your router or hotspot – it takes a minute in any router – or use your smartphone's hotspot, which is password-protected out of the box. Guest Wi-Fi with a login page is unsuitable anyway, see "Can I use the customer Wi-Fi for the stick?".

The same applies to company networks with individual user login (WPA2/WPA3 Enterprise) and to the outdated WEP encryption – here, too, the assistant shows a matching notice.

Ja.

Yes. The stick doesn't need a fixed network – a mobile hotspot from your smartphone is enough, as long as the stick and the controlling device are on the same network. The phone providing the hotspot can also be used to operate the control page. A few things to keep in mind:

  • Set up with a second device – during setup, your phone is connected to the "Atendu-Setup" Wi-Fi, and a phone can't be on a Wi-Fi network and provide one at the same time. So the stick won't see your hotspot. The easiest way: start the hotspot on phone A, run the setup with phone B, a tablet or a laptop, and select phone A's hotspot there. Afterwards you control everything with phone A as usual.
  • The hotspot must stay on while the stick is in use – if you switch it off or move too far away from the stick with your phone, the connection drops and the stick shows a notice on the screen. As soon as the hotspot is reachable again, it reconnects automatically. Best to keep the phone on a charger.
  • Automatic hotspot shut-off – many phones switch the hotspot off by themselves if no device has been connected for a while, for example while the stick is restarting. On Android phones this automatic shut-off can be disabled in the hotspot settings. On the iPhone it can't: if the stick can't find the hotspot after a restart, briefly open Settings › "Personal Hotspot" on the iPhone and wait until the display reappears on the screen. After that you can leave Settings and control the stick with the iPhone as usual. Should the hotspot switch off again in between, the same steps will fix it.
  • Don't change the hotspot's name or password – otherwise the stick's Wi-Fi connection has to be set up again.
  • The IP address may change – a hotspot won't necessarily assign the stick the same IP address every time. If your bookmark leads nowhere, simply scan the QR code the stick shows on start-up.
  • Data usage – control runs locally via the hotspot and uses no mobile data. Only the remote call feature (Atendu Cloud) and software updates go through your mobile connection, and even that is just a few kilobytes per call.

By design, the Atendu Mini has a compact antenna – so a stable connection depends more strongly on the reception and signal strength at its location than it does for larger devices. For good reception:

  • Prefer a 5 GHz network – less interference and higher bandwidth than 2.4 GHz.
  • Keep the distance to the router short – ideally in the same room or one room away. Thick walls and long distances weaken the signal considerably.
  • With several access points (mesh/repeater), pick the right one deliberately – during operation the stick deliberately does not switch between access points on its own. You decide which one it connects to yourself, during setup (see the FAQ on multiple access points). If the connection seems weak or keeps dropping, reset the Wi-Fi and choose a closer access point when you set it up again. If the connection is so poor that you can no longer get into the settings at all, use the Wi-Fi reset button on the stick (the small hole on the side; tap it briefly with a needle or paperclip) – your settings and logo are kept.

If your network consists of several access points with the same name (mesh system, Wi-Fi repeater), the stick shows each access point as its own line during setup – same network name, numbered consecutively and each with its own signal strength. This lets you specifically pick the access point you want the stick to connect to, and it then stays fixed on that one.

This is intentional: Atendu does not roam between access points automatically ("roaming"). With automatic switching, the stick would stubbornly pick the supposedly strongest access point – which, depending on the building situation (thick walls, floors, sources of interference), may actually be unstable, even though a seemingly weaker access point delivers the far more reliable connection. Signal strength alone doesn't tell you that. So you decide.

The only exception: if your chosen access point is completely down for an extended period, the stick temporarily switches to another one so that calls keep running (see the FAQ on "Fallback access point").

If you accidentally picked the wrong access point (you'll notice it from slow or dropping calls), simply reset the Wi-Fi in the settings and choose a different one when you set it up again. If the connection is so poor that you can't reach the settings at all, you can also reset the Wi-Fi using the Wi-Fi reset button on the stick (the small hole on the side; tap it briefly with a needle or paperclip) – your settings and logo are kept. If your network has only one access point, you don't need to worry about any of this – there's simply only one option to choose from.

The stick normally stays firmly on the access point you chose during setup. If that access point is down for an extended period (around five minutes, for example because a repeater is restarting or has lost power), the stick temporarily picks another access point of the same Wi-Fi network so that calls keep running. As long as this is the case, the settings page shows the yellow notice "Fallback access point".

The stick does not switch back on its own, not even after a restart. Once your original access point is back, simply tap "Switch back" in the notice. The stick first checks whether it can actually see the access point and then switches back. Paired displays that are also on a fallback access point switch back automatically as well. If the switch works, the display on the screen is not affected at all. If, against expectations, the access point does not accept the connection, the screen briefly shows the offline page until the stick is back on a fallback access point – this takes one to two minutes. If it cannot find the access point, everything stays as it is and you get a short message.

If you changed your Wi-Fi on purpose, for example by removing a repeater, reset the Wi-Fi in the settings instead and set it up again.

No, that's normal. A single device (router or mesh node) can broadcast the same network name over several radios at once – typically once on 2.4 GHz and once or even twice on 5 GHz (on different channels). Each of these radios appears in the list as its own access point with its own signal strength. Three physical devices can therefore well show up as four or more access points.

That's not a problem – it's actually useful: you can specifically pick the radio with the best reception at the stick's location, even if it comes from the same device. You don't need to know which entry belongs to which box on the wall – the signal strength shown is your first guide: choose the entry with the strongest reception. It's no guarantee of the most stable connection, though (more on that in the FAQ on mesh/repeater) – if calls are slow or keep dropping, reset the Wi-Fi and choose a different entry when you set it up again.

Ja.

Yes. Calling numbers, changing the look and running multiple sticks – all of this works completely offline. An internet connection is only needed for software updates and the remote call feature (notifying customers via smartphone). This extra feature is optional and requires a subscription.

Your display keeps running as normal: calling numbers, clearing them, the queue – all of this happens on your local Wi-Fi and doesn't need the internet. Only the remote call feature is affected, if you use Atendu Cloud: while the internet connection is down, your customers won't receive push notifications on their phones. As soon as the connection is back, the stick automatically syncs the current status with the cloud – there's nothing you need to do.

Bedienung & AnzeigeOperation & Display

Nein.

No. Everything is controlled entirely through the browser – simply scan the QR code on the screen or type the address shown into your browser. There's no app to install.

Through your phone's settings. Browsers are only allowed to suppress standby on encrypted pages, and the control page runs on your local Wi-Fi without encryption. So set the auto-lock higher or turn it off for the duration of use: on an iPhone under Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock, on Android under Settings → Display, where the setting is called “Screen timeout” or “Sleep” depending on the manufacturer. Nothing is lost in standby, however: as soon as you unlock the phone, the control page immediately shows the current state again.

After start-up, the screen shows the address of the control page together with a QR code – and keeps showing both until someone opens the control page for the first time. If you need them again later, briefly disconnect the stick from the power. Open the address in your browser or scan the QR code with your phone – there you can enter your numbers and call them.

Tip: Bookmark this page or add it to your home screen, so you don't have to scan the QR code every time (provided your router always assigns the Atendu Mini the same address on the network).

Your browser has upgraded the address to an encrypted https:// connection by itself – most browsers do this automatically these days. The control page, though, only exists within your own Wi-Fi, so it simply runs over http://. Type the address including http://, for example http://192.168.1.50:3000, or just scan the QR code on the screen – everything is already in there. If your browser then asks whether you really want to open the page, you can safely confirm for this address – it's only reachable within your Wi-Fi anyway.

Ja.

Yes. Numbers left on the screen in the evening are still there the next morning, but one tap gets rid of them: in the settings, under “Paging Mode”, you will find the “Clear all numbers” button. After a confirmation prompt it removes all called numbers and, in queue mode, the waiting list as well – on the screen and on every connected display. Individual numbers you remove as usual on the control page.

You have probably ticked the box “Don’t allow this page to show further dialogs” (or similar) in one of the confirmation prompts (pop-ups). Your browser then suppresses all prompts (pop-ups) from the page, and the action is cancelled as a precaution. The fix: close the settings tab and open the page in a new tab – the prompts will appear again.

Atendu has two call modes that you can switch between in the settings:

  • Direct mode (factory setting): you enter a number and it appears on the screen straight away with a single tap. Ideal if you simply want to call numbers one after another.
  • Queue mode: you first collect incoming numbers in a waiting list ("Add"), then call them one by one when it's the customer's turn ("Call"). This way you keep track of who's still waiting and in what order – handy, for example, at a counter where orders are prepared first.

In both cases, your customers see only the called numbers on the screen. The waiting list is visible to you alone, on the control page.

Important: switching modes clears all current calls and the waiting list. So if you ever want to change the mode, it's best to do it when nobody is waiting.

The Atendu Mini does not hand out numbers – it isn't a ticket machine that dispenses queue tickets. The number comes from your everyday workflow, and you decide what it is. In practice this is usually the order number from the receipt, a sequential number you assign when taking the order, or, for example, a table or pickup number. So you simply tell your customer "you're number 42" or hand them the receipt.

On the control page you then enter this number and call it as soon as the customer's turn comes. You're completely free here: plain numbers, letters or combinations (e.g. A12) are all possible.

If you use the remote call feature (Atendu Cloud subscription), your customer scans the QR code and enters the number you gave them on the waiting page. As soon as you call it, the person is notified on their smartphone.

Tip: If your till system prints the order number on the receipt, you can have the QR code printed right underneath it – many till systems allow an image in the receipt footer. Your customer then has the number and the QR code together in their hand and doesn't need to look for anything.

Ja.

Yes. Any number of devices (phone, tablet, PC) can have the control page open at the same time. They all see the same live status, and every entry is updated immediately on all devices and on the screen. There's no separate login per staff member.

Fast nichts.

Almost nothing. Your customers get their number as before, from the receipt, from a queue ticket or simply told to them. The only new thing is entering it on the control page: in direct mode your team types in the number and calls it, in queue mode it adds the number to a waiting list instead and calls it later with a single tap. Everything else happens by itself.

There is no login, no training and no app. The control page runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or PC in your Wi-Fi, on several at the same time if you like. Your staff don't have to do anything for the remote call, your customers scan the poster themselves.

Ja.

Yes. Simply connect further Atendu Minis to your screens, choose "Mirror mode" during setup, and connect them to the same Wi-Fi as your master stick. The additional displays then automatically show the same thing as the main screen. If, on the other hand, you want to show different numbers on two screens (e.g. for separate counters), you simply run two independent Atendu Minis for that.

Nein.

No. You can use any characters you like – including letters, special characters or combinations of them. So instead of a number, you can just as well call a name or a pickup code.

Currently German and English. The language setting applies to the control page (buttons, menus and hints) and can be switched there at any time.

The on-screen display is independent of this: at its core it only shows the numbers being called, so it works entirely without any fixed language. Text elements such as a greeting or a scrolling message are optional – you design them freely, in any language you like, or leave them out altogether.

The print template for your customers (the poster with the QR code linking to the waiting page, found in the settings under "QR code & print template") is also available in almost all EU official languages as well as Turkish. This means international customers can read the poster in their own language, regardless of the device language you've set.

Ja.

Yes. In the settings, under "Logo", you can upload your own image. A PNG with a transparent background works best. Depending on the logo size you choose, the display shows the logo 80 to 360 pixels high and simply scales up smaller files – so that it stays sharp even at the largest size, your image should be at least 400 pixels high. The width is not critical: anything up to about four times the height fits.

This is down to the image format. Technically, a JPG cannot have a transparent background – it always stores a solid background area, usually white. A visible rectangle then appears around your logo on the display, because the page background isn't exactly the same shade (this applies equally to light mode and dark mode).

The solution is a PNG with a transparent background: only the logo itself is shown, with no surrounding area – it blends seamlessly into any background. Most graphics programs, as well as many free online tools, can remove the background from an image and export it as a PNG.

For the background, there are two modes to choose from: white (light mode) and black (dark mode). The following can also be customised individually:

  • Border colour of the number tiles
  • Glow effect (a glow around the tiles)
  • Logo (your own image + size)
  • Heading (free text, e.g. "Patient" or "Please come to the counter")
  • Ticker banner (content, text size and speed – optionally static, without scrolling)
  • Tiles (size S to XL and layout: side by side or stacked)
  • Monitor orientation (rotates the picture in 90° steps for screens mounted upright or upside down)
  • Notice on an empty display (can be shown or hidden)

“Side by side”: each tile is as wide as its number, several fit in one row, and further rows are added as needed. “Stacked”: one tile per row, all the same width. The layout applies everywhere, including the display in a browser.

It rotates the Atendu Mini’s picture in 90° steps. If your screen is mounted upright or upside down, choose the matching angle here – the Atendu Mini rotates the output itself; the screen does not need a rotation function of its own. The rotation only affects the picture on the HDMI output, not the display in a browser, for example on a tablet.

Good to know: The rotation does not change how the tiles are arranged – you set that separately in the “Tiles” card under “Layout”. On a screen mounted upright, both options make sense: “Stacked” shows a few numbers large and easy to read, “Side by side” fits considerably more numbers on the screen. It depends on what you use it for.

With several screens (mirror mode), the master stick’s orientation applies to all screens – so mount them all the same way.

This isn't down to Atendu, but to your screen's colour setting. In light mode, the display uses a pure, neutral white – with no red component at all. Televisions and monitors, however, are often set to a "warm" picture profile from the factory, which visibly shifts white tones towards reddish-yellow.

To fix this, change the colour temperature in your screen's picture settings from "Warm" to "Normal", "Standard" or "Cool" – the white will then be displayed neutrally.

The colour cast affects only light mode (white background). If you can't or don't want to adjust the screen, you can switch to dark mode (black background) in the settings instead – a warm picture setting is far less noticeable there.

This can happen on extra-wide screens (21:9 "ultrawide" monitors): the Atendu Mini outputs its picture in the standard 16:9 format used by televisions. Some monitors stretch that picture across their full width – digits and curves then look distorted.

To fix this, change the aspect ratio in your monitor's picture settings from "Full" or "Wide" to "Original", "Auto" or "16:9" (the name varies by manufacturer). The monitor will then show the picture undistorted, with narrow dark bars on the left and right.

The effect doesn't occur on televisions or standard 16:9 monitors.

There are two possible causes – you can tell them apart by whether the stuttering is constant or only brief.

If the stuttering is constant: the power supply is insufficient. The stick needs a power adapter rated at 5 volts and at least 2 amps. Power banks or weak power supplies often deliver too little current – the stick then throttles its performance, and animations such as the ticker become jerky. Your best bet is the power adapter that came in the box.

If the stuttering is only brief: several numbers were called at almost the same time. Each newly called number is highlighted for about six seconds. If three or more numbers are called at virtually the same moment, the ticker may stutter briefly during this period. The numbers themselves remain clearly legible throughout, and as soon as the highlight is over, the display runs smoothly again. The effect does not occur when only one or two numbers are called at once, and it has no impact on the display at rest – no matter how many numbers are shown.

If this bothers you, you can adjust the settings. The most effective change is a smaller Tile Size – the larger the tiles, the more area the stick has to redraw during the highlight; with small tiles the stuttering practically disappears. You can also set the Glow Effect to "Off", which reduces the graphics load further. If you still notice stuttering animations, we recommend shortening the ticker text to the width of the screen and switching it to static – that is what the "Fix text (no scrolling)" option under "Banner / Ticker" is for. After that, there is no perceptible stuttering at all.

The effect only affects the picture that the stick itself outputs via HDMI. If you instead open the display as a web page on another device (see "Do I need a screen with an HDMI input permanently?"), that device takes over the rendering – a normal PC then shows the animations smoothly throughout, no matter how many numbers are called at the same time.

Shortly after start-up and once a day, the stick checks by itself whether a new version is available and shows it in the settings. A security update additionally appears as a notice at the top of the page. If you have switched off "Check for updates automatically", you will only learn about updates via "Check for Updates".

Nothing is ever installed automatically – you decide whether and when to update: in the settings you tap "Check for Updates", and if a new version is available, you install it with a single tap – the stick then updates itself.

If you run additional sticks in mirror mode, you update them the same way – each stick has its own settings page with the same update function.

Security updates are free; feature updates are also provided at no extra cost as part of our product maintenance.

Cloud & FernaufrufCloud & Remote Call

You sign up for the Atendu Cloud subscription directly from your stick, on our website. There you only enter your email address and authorise payments to Atendu. You're then shown your personal activation code, which is also sent to you by email. You enter it once in the Atendu settings on your stick, under the "Atendu Cloud" section, and the remote call feature is active straight away. The first 30 days are completely free; your payment only becomes due once this period has ended.

In principle, every call is shown on the screen – that always works, even without a subscription. On top of that, your customers can be notified on their smartphone: to do so, they scan the QR code, enter their number on your waiting page and are notified as soon as it's called. This remote call feature requires an active Atendu Cloud subscription.

Whether a call is signalled on the phone with sound or vibration is decided solely by your customer's device – with the iPhone in particular this can't be forced from the outside, for example when it's set to silent. On Android devices, by contrast, push notifications work without any trouble, as long as they've been allowed once.

Only one thing, however, works reliably across all devices: leaving the waiting page open. As long as it's open, the call appears there in real time, and the screen automatically stays on (the screen lock is prevented) – regardless of silent mode or device settings. This is the option we recommend.

If the phone is locked or the browser is pushed into the background, that's no problem: as soon as the waiting page is opened again, the current status of the number appears immediately – there's no need to reload.

The notification is meant for the waiting time on site, i.e. minutes to a few hours. If a number isn't called for four hours, the waiting page starts again with the number entry the next time it's opened. The remote call isn't designed for notifications spanning several days.

Atendu provides the QR code in the settings under "QR code & print template" – there you'll find both: a ready-made print template to print out and put up directly, and the QR code on its own as an image file, which you're free to reuse however you like. You'll find more details under "Is there a ready-made print template with the QR code for my customers?".

Place it wherever your customers wait – or straight on the receipt: if your till system prints the order number on the receipt, the QR code can be printed as an image in the footer, so your customer has the number and the QR code together in their hand. Anyone who likes can scan the code, enter their number and be notified on their smartphone when called. Customers without a smartphone don't have to do anything: every call always appears on the screen as well – the remote call by phone is an additional option, not a requirement.

Ja.

Drei Dateien stehen bereit:

Yes. In the settings of the Atendu Mini, under "QR code & print template", you'll find a ready-made A4 poster. It contains your QR code, short instructions in three steps and a note that neither an app nor registration is needed.

On that page you can also adapt the poster:

  • Language – almost all EU official languages as well as Turkish, optionally with an English second line under each text.
  • Colour – choose the main colour of the poster from a palette so that it matches your business.

Three files are available:

  • Print / PDF – straight from the browser. In the print dialog you can scale the template down or up as you like, for example for a table stand or a poster.
  • Poster as JPG – as an image file, for example for a print shop or copy shop.
  • QR code on its own – as a PNG with a white or transparent background, if, for example, you want to design your own posters, menus, your website, a 3D-printed stand or the footer of your receipts.

It's best to open the page for the poster on a PC or laptop: on a smartphone it is reflowed for the small screen, so printing and the JPG there usually won't match the A4 sheet we've prepared. The QR code on its own, however, can also be downloaded on a smartphone.

Nothing changes for them. The screen is the basis for everyone: every call appears there, whether someone has scanned the QR code or not. The remote call to the phone is an additional option, not compulsory.

That makes things easy with a mixed clientele: anyone who wants to use their phone doesn't have to stay within sight of the display. Anyone who doesn't simply looks at the screen. Nobody has to change their habits.

No, there's no fixed upper limit. Your customers register their number when they scan the QR code; when you call a number, only the person waiting for it is notified. The system is designed for many waiting customers – even at peak times there are no bottlenecks.

Ja.

Yes. The activation code is tied to your subscription, not to a specific device. When you set up a new stick, simply enter the same code – the connection is transferred automatically. Your QR code and your customer link stay unchanged. The previous device automatically loses the cloud connection but still works offline.

They stay valid. Your customer link (atendu.eu/go/...) is tied to your activation code, not to the stick – as long as you enter the same activation code on the new stick, all printed QR codes, table stands and notices keep their validity.

Nein.

No. The activation code is not stored on the stick and is not displayed. Once activated, the settings only show your customer link, the status and the expiry date – the code itself is known only to you (and our system). Even so, keep the code somewhere safe: anyone who knows it can redeem it on another device.

First reset the stick in the settings using "Disconnect" – that cleanly clears the cloud connection and the new owner starts fresh. Your activation code stays with you in any case and can't be read out of the stick; as soon as you enter it on your next device, that device takes over the active access and all earlier sticks automatically lose the cloud connection. If you forgot to reset it and the buyer is already using the stick, just get in touch at support@atendu.eu – we can remove the activation code from the old stick as a precaution, if you'd like.

(Enthalten z. B. in unserer „Abbuchung fehlgeschlagen"-Mail.)

Don't worry: your Atendu Mini keeps running regardless – calling numbers and the display work offline, even without a subscription. This is only about the remote call feature, and in the vast majority of cases you can get it active again yourself:

  • Do you still have the stick set up? That's the easiest way: right on the stick under Settings → "Atendu Cloud" → "Re-subscribe". You don't even need the activation code for this – the stick is already linked to your access.
  • Stick no longer linked, but you still have the code? Simply enter your activation code again on the stick under Settings → "Atendu Cloud" – even if the subscription has expired. You can then revive it there with "Re-subscribe", keeping your existing QR code.
  • Still have the stick, but your email address has changed? Simply update the address yourself, right on the stick: Settings → "Atendu Cloud" → "Change email address". We'll send a confirmation link to the new address; once you click it, all future invoices and notices go there. That way your subscription stays reachable even when the old inbox is long gone.
  • Got a reactivation link from one of our emails? (Our "payment failed" email includes one, for example.) Use it to reactivate directly and identify yourself with the email address you originally used – this revives your existing subscription including its QR code, no new subscription needed.
  • Changed your email but still have the code? Enter your activation code from the welcome email when reactivating. That identifies you as the owner, even with a new address.

Have neither the code nor access to your old email? Then you have two routes: either you simply start over – you'll get a fresh subscription with a new QR code (you'd need to reprint your existing posters for that). Or, if you'd like to keep your existing QR code, write to us at support@atendu.eu. So that we can clearly identify you as the owner and protect your access from unauthorised use, we need proof of ownership from you – for example a payment record or the last four digits of the card or IBAN you used.

Tip: Keep your activation code somewhere safe – it's in your welcome email, is permanently linked to your subscription, and ensures your business always keeps the same link and QR code.

The Atendu Mini costs €99 as a one-off payment (including shipping within Germany and 30 days of Atendu Cloud to try out). You can see everything that's included under "What's included in the box?".

Nothing – shipping is free and already included in the purchase price. Within Germany we ship with DHL; we usually dispatch within 1–2 working days of receipt of payment, and delivery then typically takes another 1–2 working days.

At the moment we only ship the Atendu Mini within Germany. Should that change, we will announce it here.

We sell to businesses only (B2B) – so there is no statutory right of withdrawal like in consumer sales. It's best to check before ordering whether the Atendu Mini fits your use case; our contact form is happy to help with any questions. If the stick is defective, the warranty of course applies – see “What if the Atendu Mini is faulty?”.

The Atendu Mini is designed for continuous operation. Should it nonetheless fail due to a material or manufacturing defect, we will replace the stick under warranty – under our terms, claims for defects become time-barred twelve months after delivery. You report the defect conveniently via the relevant form on our website.

If you use the remote call feature, you simply re-enter your activation code on the replacement device – your cloud connection, your customer link and your printed QR codes all remain valid unchanged.

The Atendu Cloud subscription costs €12.90 per month. The first 30 days are free – so you can take your time to test it. The subscription renews automatically each month and can be cancelled at any time, hassle-free. The Atendu Mini itself continues to work offline even without a subscription (see "Do I need a subscription …?").

Once the 30 days are up, the Atendu Cloud subscription automatically switches to the paid monthly plan: on day 31, €12.90 is charged for the first time, and monthly thereafter. So that the transition works seamlessly, you provide your payment method when you sign up – but nothing is charged from it during the 30 days. If you don't want to continue, you simply cancel before day 31: then nothing is ever charged, and your display keeps running offline unchanged.

Nein.

No. The Atendu Mini works completely without a subscription. The subscription only unlocks the remote call feature, with which your customers can be notified by smartphone when their number is called.

Yes, these are two separate steps – and there's a practical reason for it:

  • The Atendu Mini you buy once in our shop (€99). It's ready to use straight away and runs completely without a subscription.
  • The Atendu Cloud subscription (remote call, €12.90/month) you take out only afterwards – directly from your already set-up stick: in the settings under "Atendu Cloud". There you start the sign-up, receive your activation code and enter it right away.

Why only after setup? Because your subscription – and therefore the 30 free days too – runs from the moment you sign up, not only when you enter the code. So it's best to get the code exactly when your stick is ready and you want to use the remote call feature – that way you don't waste any of the 30 free days. A cloud subscription "in stock" without a stick therefore makes no sense: the activation code can only be redeemed on a set-up Atendu Mini.

Nein.

No. The subscription applies per stick group (a master stick together with its mirror sticks), not per device.

The additional sticks in mirror mode automatically show the same display as the main screen and don't need their own subscription. You can also run several independent stick groups on the same Wi-Fi – each one then needs its own subscription.

No, there is no minimum term. The Atendu Cloud subscription runs monthly and can be cancelled at any time – with no notice period, easily online: most conveniently right on the stick (Settings → "Atendu Cloud" → "Cancel cloud subscription"), or alternatively via the cancellation form on our website if you don't have access to the stick right now. After cancellation, the remote call feature continues to work until the end of the month you've already paid for; after that, nothing more is charged. It doesn't matter when in the month you cancel: you always keep the Cloud until the end of your current billing period, and the following month is not charged. The Atendu Mini continues to work offline even after that.

Yes, you get a proper invoice for every order and every subscription payment. Atendu is run as a small business under § 19 UStG (German VAT law) – therefore no VAT is shown on the invoices. For you as a customer this means: the price stated is the final price, with no additional VAT.

Allgemeines & WissenswertesGeneral & Good to Know

  • Werkstatt & Service – Kfz-Annahme, Reparaturservice, Reifenwechsel, Ersatzteil-Theke
  • Gesundheit & Beratung – Praxen, Sanitätshäuser, Optiker, Wartebereiche aller Art

No, not at all. The Atendu Mini fits anywhere someone is meant to wait for their call – regardless of the industry, and whether it's about customers or your own staff. The principle is always the same: you call a number (or a name or short code), and it appears clearly on the screen; optionally also as a remote call on the smartphone.

In hospitality this is typically the order or pickup number at a counter, snack bar, food truck, bakery or ice-cream parlour. But it works just as well in completely different areas:

  • Retail & pickup – pickup counters, click & collect, pharmacies, market and farm shops
  • Workshop & service – vehicle drop-off, repair service, tyre changes, parts counter
  • Health & consulting – practices, medical supply stores, opticians, waiting areas of all kinds
  • Authorities & institutions – citizen's offices, public agencies, libraries, universities
  • Leisure & events – cloakrooms, rentals, event and trade-fair stands
  • Internal & logistics – staff who need to be called to a particular place, or whose status is to be tracked ("currently on a job"), e.g. pickers in a distribution centre

Internal use broadens the range even further: here it isn't the customer waiting – your team benefits from the call instead, for instance when someone needs to come briefly to the loading dock, to goods-in or to a service point, without you having to shout across the hall or radio them individually.

In short: as soon as numbers or names are called or displayed somewhere, the Atendu Mini is the right tool. The display, the heading and the call mode can be adapted to your workflow – see "Can I customise the colours and design of the display?" and "What's the difference between Direct mode and Queue mode?". If you need several displays in the same business, "Can I drive several screens at once?" will help you further.

Yes, for the vast majority of businesses. A guest paging system with pagers (buzzers) essentially does one thing: it tells the guest that their order is ready. The Atendu Mini does the same in two ways – via the number on the screen and, with Atendu Cloud, via a notification on the guest's own phone. So there are no more devices to hand out, collect, charge or replace, and the range doesn't end at the shop door.

Two differences are worth knowing: guests get their number from you (receipt, slip, verbally) rather than a device in their hand. And you decide the range yourself: for more reach indoors, simply set up another screen with a second Atendu Mini. For large areas or outdoor spaces, Atendu Cloud is the right choice: the remote call goes straight to your guests' phones – wherever they are, however many there are.

The easiest way is the contact form or an email to support@atendu.eu. To help us reproduce the problem quickly, three details make all the difference: what happened, what you expected instead, and which firmware version your stick is running (shown in the settings under “Device Information”). A photo of the screen is often worth more than a long description. Even more helpful is the log from the settings (“Advanced” card → “Download log”): it contains the device state and settings, but none of the numbers you called.

If it concerns a security vulnerability, please write directly to security@atendu.eu.

The Atendu Mini is deliberately kept simple: it's there to call numbers, reliably and without any frills – and that's exactly what we focus on. That's why we don't build in every wish, even if it makes sense in its own right.

Nevertheless, we'd like to know what you're missing in day-to-day use: send us your idea via the contact form. We can't make any promises, but we read every suggestion and let our customers' requirements feed into further development. Whether that ever becomes a new feature or perhaps even a product of its own will depend on demand.

Nein.

No. There is no user account, no password and no login – not for you, not for your staff and not for your customers. You control the Atendu Mini directly in your browser on your Wi-Fi network. All you need for the Atendu Cloud subscription is your email address: your access is linked to your stick and your activation code. You can cancel or change your email address directly on the stick; if you don't have the stick to hand, you can also cancel via our website, using a confirmation link sent to your email address. Your customers simply scan the QR code – no app and no registration required.

Atendu doesn't need any customer data: no accounts, no names, no phone numbers – only anonymous numbers (or characters) that you enter yourself are called. For the remote call feature, the Atendu Cloud simply syncs this number with your customer link. If a customer enables push notifications, the cloud temporarily stores their browser's technical push subscription – a device token with no name or contact details, which is automatically deleted (see our privacy policy for details). As the operator, we store your email address and – for shipping and invoicing – your name and address; full payment data (e.g. card details) is held exclusively by the payment service provider.

Only a little, and most of it is already taken care of. With the remote call feature, Atendu Cloud processes your customers' anonymous numbers and technical push subscriptions on your behalf – you are the data controller, we are your data processor. Three things belong to that:

Data processing agreement (DPA): You already accepted it when you took out the subscription, and you can find it at any time under DPA.

Informing your customers: The waiting page takes care of this itself via its privacy notice.

Entry in your record of processing activities, if you keep one. You can use this text:

  • Purpose: Notifying waiting customers when their order or queue number is called.
  • Data categories: Anonymous number, technical browser push subscription (no name, no contact details).
  • Recipients: Atendu (data processor, servers in Germany); notification delivered via the push service of the respective browser vendor (e.g. Google, Apple, Mozilla).
  • Deletion: Automatic as soon as the call is completed (number marked done or deleted), and no later than 30 days after the subscription ends.

The Atendu Cloud's own data (your email address and the anonymous numbers) is processed exclusively on servers in Germany. Payment processing is handled by our payment service provider Mollie within the EU; payment data is processed there in a GDPR-compliant way and is not stored by us.

Everything important is linked in the footer at the bottom of every page:

"Atendu" comes from Esperanto and simply means "wait" – derived from atendi, Esperanto for "to wait". So it fits exactly what the stick does: it gently tells your customers to wait a moment until their number is called. We chose Esperanto because it belongs to no single language or nation – a small nod to the European spirit. 🙂
